Paul Wesley doesn’t just look like an angel, he plays one on TV! In ABC Family Channel’s new flick “Fallen” (which premiered Sunday, July 23), Paul stars as Aaron Corbett, a teen orphan who learns that he’s actually an angel, but not the sweet, fluttery stereotype you think of when you hear the word. Aaron already feels like an outcast, so when he has to deal with his newfound powers, his life spirals out of control. We recently chatted with Paul in Los Angeles about this extraordinary role and have shared his thoughts with us!
TEENMAG: What was the best part of playing Aaron in Fallen?
Paul Wesley: I enjoy the fact that he’s a social outcast and I really like the fact that we don’t know much about his past. He’s never met his parents. There are so many interesting things to that. I thought it gave me a lot of range to play with. In the script it doesn’t really tell you much about what happened to Aaron when he was in orphanages and stuff like that, it gave me the opportunity to make up my own stuff and create my own history for him. I really dug that. It’s a really cool way of interacting with your character.

Between Twilight on the big screen and True Blood on its way back to the small screen, it seems our appetite for sexy bloodsuckers is still is ravenous as they are for us. Or at least that’s what the CW is hoping, as they begin another season of The Vampire Diaries.
Like most other vamp shows, The Vampire Diaries began life as a series of books. It focuses on the high school girl “Elena” from a fictional small town in Virginia. She meets and falls in love with two estranged brothers – Damon and Stefan – who just happen to have an especially active nightlife. Needless to say, it gets complicated.

BRAVO: How do you relate to your character? Do you recognize yourself in Stefan?
PAUL: Sure! I also hunt my food in the woods (laughs). But Stefan and I indeed have a very similar character.
We are both introverted and brooding. And believe it or not: When we started shooting my colleague Nina really thought I was a vampire…
BRAVO: Why’s that?
PAUL: Because my canine teeth are very pronounced. Many people think that I constantly wear plastic-vampire-teeth – but they really grew like this.
And I’m very pale. But the biggest similarity between Stefan and me is that he’s also been on his own from an early age on – you’ll find out more about this in the upcoming episodes. At the age of 16 I also moved from Marlboro/ New Jersey to New York – on my own!

The star of The CW series discusses his good fortune, the vampire legacy, and where the show may be headed this season

Last year, the CW introduced THE VAMPIRE DIARIES. Before they knew it, they had a bona fide hit on their hands. Leading the charge is Paul Wesley, better known as Stefan, the sullen 160 year old vampire who is the love interest of the show’s lead, Elena, played by Nina Dobrev. iF Magazine had a chance to talk with Wesley about his blossoming stardom, why he likes playing vampires, and a little about where he hope THE VAMPIRE DIARIES is headed this season.
iF MAGAZINE: How does it feel to don the mantle of the next hip vampire a la Kiefer Sutherland or Brad Patt?
PAUL WESLEY: Amazing. It’s great to be a part of that lineage. I’m a huge fan of INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE. I love films like SHADOW OF THE VAMPIRE with Willem Dafoe and the old Dracula films. So being a part of that mythology is fantastic. It’s an honor.

The Vampire Diaries centers on a pair of vampire brothers. There’s Stefan, the “good” one, and Damon, the “bad” one. The siblings play extremes of the vampire continuum, from the sensitive emo ones to the traditional blood suckers. Paul Wesley, who plays Stefan, says that he and Ian Somerhalder, who plays Damon, really take the roles seriously.
“We do analyze it,” Wesley said. “We do a lot of work and spend a lot of time talking about our roles, but then we let it go and drift. We are bros in real life and you can’t fabricate that.”

Tell us about your character Stefan.
“Stefan is a tormented vampire around 150 years old. He doesn’t look his age though! He was turned into a vampire when he was a young man so he eternally looks the same age as he was back then.
“He is tormented and anguished as he really hates being a vampire and he doesn’t want to be in this state. I don’t know for sure but the assumption I make is that Stefan was turned into a vampire against his will. He hates it.
“He falls in love with Elena and she bears a striking, uncanny resemblance to a girl he was in love with over a century ago. Damon shows up and wreaks havoc and tries to ruin their relationship and steal Elena from him.”

For many readers of the Vampire Diaries book series, Paul Wesley fits the description of Stefan Salvatore perfectly. He’s handsome, smoldering and mysterious. He even has some prominent fang-like teeth. So while he may now seem like a shoe-in for the part, Paul admits that the audition process was grueling. In fact, he only had about two weeks from the time he was cast until they began filming the pilot.
While it was a summer arts program in third grade that introduced Paul to acting, he didn’t land his first television role until high school. Since that time he has honed his craft in numerous television roles. Ironically, his first starring role was in the series Fallen. His character was a young man struggling to come to terms with the fact that he was half angel. It’s quite a jump from angel to vampire, but Paul seems more than ready to take on the challenge.

Move over Robert Pattinson, there is a new hot vampire actor in the building and he is moving up the celebrity meter. His name? Paul Wesley.
Seen on The Vampire Diaries as Stefan Salvatore, Paul Wesley is creating quite a stir with his character on the CW every Thursday. Vampire friends and fan are coming out of the darkness to support this show and it is catching on fast.
The Vampire Diaries, a show about About a high school girl torn between two vampire brothers, which is based on the tagline: Love Sucks. Elena Gilbert (played by Nina Dobrev) needs to choose between two hot vampire brothers Damon Salvatore and Stefan Salvatore. Along with some blood spattering and romance, fans will find the performances of the characters strong and unlike other vampire stores.
The plot of The Vampire Diaries is losely based off the books titled the same. However, this show is anything but a Twilight remake. The books, published over ten years before the Twilight Series are a different spin on how vampires live and it definitely is a different world.
Wesley isn’t new to the entertainment business. This New Jersey native has been seen on Army Wives and will be bumping in to Jack Bauer in Day 7 and 8 on Fox TV ‘s hit show 24 later in the Fall. While his face may not be on the tip of every teenage girl yet, don’t fret it will be very soon.
Check out the Vampire Diaries on the CW Network every Thursday.

That’s right, years before Paul Wesley was cast as Stefan in the Vampire Diaries, he played Luke Cates in the series Wolf Lake. The short-lived show began on CBS in 2001, then moved to UPN. Only 10 episodes aired.
Wolf Lake, set in the Pacific Northwest, explores what happens when a Seattle suburb is overtaken by werewolves. Socialite Life has screen caps from an episode showing Paul and some of the other characters nude. While the pictures show, well, a side of Paul that hasn’t been seen on Vampire Diaries, the most striking thing may be the fact that he hasn’t aged a day in the eight years since Wolf Lake.
Once again, there are Twilight connections. Not only is Wolf Lake set in the same area as Twilight, and both deal with werewolves, they share an actor as well. Graham Greene, who plays Harry Clearwater in Eclipse, was in Wolf Lake with Paul as Sherman Blackstone.
It seems that in the realm of werewolves and vampires, it really is a small world.
